FAQ
What the heck do we wear for our session?
First and foremost, wear what you feel comfortable in! If you're not comfortable with what you're wearing it will show in the photos, and that goes for family members as well. I want you to feel confident the day of our shoot. That being said, a few small rules I like to go by:
• Keep it simple, and timeless. These photos will likely go on your wall, so please think about how the outfits will look within the decor of your home.
• If someone in the group/couple is wearing a pattern, have the other person/people wear solids. Too many patterns can be distracting.
• Jewel tones, like burgundy or mustard yellow or emerald come through BEAUTIFULLY in photos, especially for fall sessions. Earth tones are also a safe bet. If colors intimidate you, when in doubt cream with tan or grey tones are dreamy!
How do I book you?
Well, you're here on my site reading this, so you're off to a good start! Head over to my contact page and fill out the Contact Form to give me all the details I need to get you in the books. I require a deposit (retainer) to secure your desired date, and a signed digital photography contract., which I send over through a booking link. Once both of those are complete you're in the books, and your remaining balance is due the day of your session.
What is your reschedule/cancellation policy?
I require a nonrefundable deposit for all sessions to secure the date. If you have to reschedule you will have to put another deposit down for the new date UNLESS you are rescheduling due to illness. I am currently waiving illness-related reschedules to encourage couples and families to arrive to sessions HEALTHY to keep me and my other clients safe. :)
Where are you based and do you travel?
I am based in Ojai, California and am definitely up for an adventure. With travel I require a travel fee + reasonable accommodations along with my regular rate for whatever type of photography you are booking. Email me for further details on travel requests!
Can we bring the family dog?
My short answer is always YES.... but there are a few things I want you to consider.... Who will watch the dog when its not in photos? Is your dog good off leash/well trained? If your dog is hyper/aggressive/easily distracted by new experiences or new places, his/her presence at the session could become distracting - where you are focusing more on your dogs behavior than on your session. If you believe that doesn't apply to your doggie, please bring them along!!
When will we get our photos?
For any session other than a wedding, you can expect around a 10-14 day turnaround time. I try my best to get them done earlier than that. Weddings are usually 6-8 weeks turnaround, depending on how many hours were booked and the time of year.
Where can we print our photos?
I deliver high resolution photos through an online digital gallery, where from there you can view and download the entire gallery and print them anywhere you like. For best quality, I offer printing services directly from all of my online galleries. You can print large format, canvas etc. It's extremely convenient and the print quality is excellent. If you are looking to purchase a custom album, please email me and we can chat about a custom design.
You say "edited" images... Does that mean you can photoshop me to look better?
While of course I want you to look and feel your best the day of your session, I totally get that things happen (like blemishes or a scratch on your kiddos face!). If a blemish showed up the day of your shoot, or there is a stain on a shirt, or a scratch on your kiddos face, I got you! When I edit I adjust color + exposure, remove any distracting elements, and can clear skin a bit. I don't do full body transformations, but If there are any additional adjustments you'd like me to be aware of, please speak up at your session and I'll happily see what I can do.
